A couple of architects arranged a micro-apartment in the Netherlands


Architect couple Beatriz Ramo and Bernd Upmeyer arranged a compact apartment in the center of Rotterdam on an area of ​​only 6,89 square meters.

The apartment is located on the top floor of a residential modernist building of the 1950s. The architects named their project «Cabanon» in honor of the miniature house of the same name, created by the French architect Le Corbusier in France.

«Cabanon» is a fully equipped apartment designed for a couple. It consists of four spaces, different in materials, color and height: an ocher living room 3 meters high, a green bedroom 1,14 meters high with lots of hidden shelves, a sky blue toilet with a tropical shower and a spa decorated with black marble, which has a hydromassage a bath

In the living room, one of the walls is divided into 12 different «cubes», which reveal their contents like the flaps of an advent calendar. A folding table, a small sink, a refrigerator, a bookshelf, etc. are hidden here.

The apartment does not have a separate kitchen, but according to the authors of the project, there is no need for this, as there are plenty of restaurants near the house.

The couple says that these small «rooms» with their elegant decoration do not create the feeling that the walls are closing in, but paradoxically create the feeling of a larger space.

In total, the project cost the architects $23, not including the time spent on developing drawings for it.
